SO OUR BUDDY CHRIS MARTINS IS PUTTING ON A FANTASTIC WEEK LONG EVENT THAT INCLUDES FILMS AND MUSIC. WE HAVE THE GREAT FORTUNE OF PLAYING ONE OF THEM THIS THURSDAY NIGHT WITH LORD HURON. WE LOVE THE LORD.
THE FILM PART STARTS @ 8 AND THE MUSIC SHALL BE STARTING @ AROUND 9:50. THE LORD GOES ON FIRST AND THEN THE FRANKS. WHAT A COOL NIGHT. KISSES!
We are playing redwood bar tonight downtown. It is gonna be wild. We are the first of three bands starting at 10:30. Tijuana Panthers and Allah Las are following and believe me when I say they rule. See you there stud
so here we are on our last stop of the tour and I gotta say I was pretty sad to see it end. but nonetheless, you know we rocked the crap outta Los Angeles. Coming back home from a trip is always nice…but especially when you are going to slay faces of family members, friends, and randoms at the EL Ray. Our buddies Kevin and jon stopped by to hang in the afternoon while we were waiting for sound check. They are cool! Kevin took some hollerific photos of the boys in their suits…damn they look good!
We sure did have a fun time at our show. Afterwards we taped some faces. There is a funny photo of Mickey all tape faced! watch out now. Missin’ the road dearly and the friends we made along the way. But you best believe there will be another franks hit the road journal. It’s like a dog getting his first taste of flesh…once you get that little drop of blood in your system you ain’t ever gonna stop searching for that feeling. Holler folks, holler!
Mims here taking over for Jean. He is being a twerp and I’m ready to recap the last parts of our journey. Our next stop after a kablamo blast in Eugenc was motha effen San Francisco and what a time that was. We woke up bright and early at Jean’s moms house and hit the piney road. We arrived at the venue and there was a kitchen and food in the kitchen! I mean REAL food…eggrolls, chicken stuff, rice, saucey stuff. NOW normally I would not go anywhere near an eggroll, but I was feeling particularly adventurous that day. San Francisco and rock n’ roll can do that me. We ate in the dressing room and boy was it good!
YUM YUM EAT EM UP
After having a blast at our show we went and got burritos…there was a lot of food everywhere! HOLY SMOKES. Our buddy Sean showed us the way to a hott burrito joint and we ate the shit out of them. Another early morning ahead of us, we slept and watched the first 20 minutes of Twilight and then fell asleep at Sean’s house. We wrote a message to Sean in the morning with those magnetic letters on the fridge. It was tite! Then off we were headed for the holy hometown, Los Angeles. Bye bye Franny!
First, Franks are playing a loft party in Lil’ Tokyo with our friends The Outline and Mini Mansions all for our dear, dear bombshell of a friend Laura Francis who will be turning 42 but won’t look a day past 19. It’s BYOB so BYOB. RSVP HERE!!! $5 plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
AND THEN………………………………………………………………………………………
ON saturday we’re playing the SPREAD in Sun Valley in THE VALLEY again with our boys The Outline and other doods The Damn Sons and Veil Era. There’s a good chance we’ll be recording this for an upcoming live release soooooooo come on out and party hard, sing along and channel your depression into rage! you can rsvp for that HERE
In case you were all, where the hell is sun valley? it’s here:
for the opening of Mishka‘s LA store we played at the echoplex with Wavves and Best Coast and DJs 12th Planet, Franki Chan and Killing Spree. Andy Milonakis was there too, “hosting,” which really meant rapping for 20 minutes or so… he’s a nice guy though, so we won’t hold it against him.
so, ummm, what was it like?
good, good…
thanks to everyone that came out for les frankies. merci beaucoup.
fuck that guy who was heckling mimi and then best coast. assholes like him who marginalize by objectifying girl musicians should not be tolerated. THERE’S NO ROOM FOR YOU IN OUR UTOPIA MAN!
OFF TO THE GULAGS!
here’s some video from our set:
also best coast did a pretty good cover of leslie gore’s “that’s the way boys are”. i’m into her being into early ’60s pop so. but not like that.
and frankie chan was there, doing his thing, so i took the opportunity to weird him out a bit, telling him he was a major inspiration for the band name. and then almost before he could say, “no way,” i showed him my tattoo, saying, “i’m really into you.”
“oh, he’s a fanboy,” his female friend said with both affection and mock but by then i had already handed frankie a sticker and was walking away. i turned back, he was focused on the sticker, but she was looking at me so i whispered that i was kidding. i was kidding.
freaking out the squares, one dj at a time
i also told wavves i thought he looked like our stickers, kind of. he might have been flattered but probably just weirded out by the tongue and all that slobber. again, freaking out the squares.
soooooooooooooo
our next show, i think, is an instore at origami records on 3/13. see you there
